【The Houfeng Bikeway】The Houfeng Bikeway was opened on April 17, 2005. It starts from under an overpass of the Fengyuan section of the National Freeway 4 and ends at the Houli Horse Farm, passing through the former mountain railway’s Tunnel Number 9 and the Hualiang Steel Bridge. It stretches 4.5 kilometers. The bikeway joins the Dongfeng Green Corridor to form an 18-kilometer exclusive bike lane that features attractions that recall things of the past. The lane is based on the former mountain railway running through the area. Scenery along the route is diverse, with not only lush green fields and quiet countryside but also the magnificent Hualiang Steel Bridge, which spans the wide Dajia River.

【The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum】The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum showcases articles of historical interest belonging to Chang Lien-cheng. It also provides a guided tour of saxophone culture, which introduces the development of saxophones in Taiwan and the spirit that Chang, a legendary saxophone maker, had followed in his pursuit of saxophone-making techniques. The museum houses saxophones made by Adolphe Sax, who invented the musical instrument, 163 years ago. In 2010, it was rated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs as an “Excellent Tourism Factory.” Its saxophone making process and relevant advanced techniques are open for public viewing, attracting huge crowds of individual and group visitors from across Taiwan and other foreign countries. The museum holds lectures by saxophone masters, performances by professional bands and players, exhibitions and briefing sessions, and academic conferences on a regular basis. The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone is moving toward the goal of becoming a 100-year-old business on the basis of experience accumulated over the past 65 years. It keeps growing and developing to become a sustainable business that can contribute something to society.

【The Yuemei Tourism Sugar Factory】The Yuemei Tourism Sugar Factory is located in Houli District, Taichung City. As a tourism factory, it introduces to visitors the past glorious days of the Taiwan sugar industry. It was initially called “Dajia Sugar Factory,” belonging to a Japanese sugar manufacturing company established during the Japanese rule of Taiwan. In 1909, the factory was set up by Japanese colonizers. In 1919, it was taken over by the factory of “Taiwan Sugar Company” in Yuemei. It earned a lot of foreign currency for Taiwan while creating an economic miracle in Taiwan with the sugar it made.

【The Gaomei Wetland】The Gaomei Wetland is located south of the estuary of the Dajia River in Qingshui, covering an area of 1,500 hectares. With rich natural resources, it is one of the few group breeding areas in Taiwan for wild ducks. A habitat for as many as 120 species of birds, the wetlands is an important ecological conservation zone. It has gradually replaced the estuary of the Dadu River as the bird watchers’ new favorite site. Although not covering a large area, the wetlands has a rich and diverse wetlands ecological environment partly because it has mud and sand beaches at the same time and partly because areas of marsh at the estuary are linked. It has the largest known concentration of Yunlin Bolboschoenus plants in Taiwan. With plants growing in both dry and wet environments, the wetlands features diverse terrains and ecosystems, which consist mainly of birds, fish, crabs and invertebrates.
