Day 1 Arrive in Taiwan – Go to Taichung. Check-in a hotel in Taichung
Arrive at the international airport by deluxe plane. The tour guide will welcome our guests at the arrival hall. A shuttle will be waiting for you and take you to a hotel in Taichung City. Take a good rest and get ready for the upcoming trip.

Day 2 – A shuttle will take you to health management centers at a professional hospital in Taichung. Dinner at Feng Chia Night Market.
There are diverse choices of snacks and foods from the entrance to the end of Feng Chia Night Market. You can satisfy your taste buds at different stalls without getting your stomach full. Just spend a small sum of money and you will eat just enough for a healthy dinner. Richuan Octopus Balls is a snack shop that made a fortune in Feng Chia Night Market. Now, it has many branches throughout Taiwan. It is a snack shop selling gourmet snacks at a reasonable price. People always give it a thumbs up. The Cheese Onion stall sells potatoes, imported from America, with tasty sauces and plenty of cheese. It tastes marvelous when served hot. It can be eaten at the Feng Chia Night Market only. A-Bo Special Ice Cream is a low-fat, low-sugar, and low-calorie vanilla, chocolate-mix, chocolate, mango, mango & vanilla mix, strawberry flavors. They are more delicious and healthy. Freshly Pressed Kumquat Lemon is a stall selling a four-in-one flavor drink mixed with lemon, aiyu jelly, chia seeds and grass jelly. Tasting great, it is many people’s favorite. It is nice to have a cup on summers days. The Crepe sold there comes in many flavors with rich ingredients and crunchy wrapping. It has become one the representative snacks in Feng Chia Night Market. In this place there are many tasty and highly recommended snacks. You are suggested to do some homework before going there to taste the famous snacks and dishes of your choices.

Day 3: Folklore and folk belief tour. Chio Tian Folk Drums and Arts Troupe Experience – Rise from the ashes. Rainbow Village – The world of painting. National Taichung Theater – traditional and innovative creative cultural events. Miyahara – The beauty of architecture. Taichung Prefectural Hall Park – A landmark in Taichung.
Chio Tian Battle Array – It is a performance presented in the manner of ancient battle drum squads, always seen in temple fair parades. Being the climax of the parade in traditional temple processions in Taiwan, it excites people with their enthusiastic shows. Chio Tian Folk Drums and Arts Troupe (aka Chio Tian) was originally a religious group performing battle arrays in temple parades. With the shift in times, Chio Tian endeavors to make changes and innovations to allow traditional heritage and folklore to continue and sustain. It works hard to promote its skills and enrich the contents of performances by adding more artistic elements into them. Gradually, it transforms from a local temple parade troupe to become an artistic and professional performance troupe. To achieve these goals, it invites professional musicians, choreographers, playwrights, martial-artists and more as teachers. The director teaches them folklore and folk knowledge. With crossover exchange and integration, they promote the training and refined the performances into a refined art. Cultivating each member into a professional performer, he or she is trained to become a professional talent in folklore performances. Cultivated with art and trained with skills, young members dedicate themselves in folk performances. They work together to promote Taiwan’s battle array performance art to transform “temple fair theater” into a new aesthetics. Endorsing Taiwan’s traditional temple fair culture, they are eager to inject new life into folklore.
The Rainbow Village has been selected by Lonely Planet as one of the Secret Marvels of the World. Located at Lane 56, Chunan Road, Nantun, Taichung City, its neighbor is Ling Tung University. Being a colorful lane, there are cute and lovely paintings on the buildings’ walls on both sides. There are colorful paintings of people, animals and color patches with touching local elements. It is a highly recommended resort, attracting many tourists to visit. It makes this quiet and lonely military dependents' village lively. The lovely and dreamy graffiti and colorful sketches are all over the walls here. Visiting the Rainbow Village, the lovely sketches and colorful graphics are there to welcome all visitors, who will feel like entering a fairyland. These paintings are all done by Rainbow Granny Huang Yung-Fu. Rainbow Village is a 50m lane. On the walls of the houses, there are pictures of people, oxen, birds and more. He even painted rainbows, flowers and words of blessing on the ground. When the granny began to paint, he didn’t have any plan. He just painted things that came to his mind, such as people, oxen, birds, airplanes, and even pandas – Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan in the Taipei Zoo are materials for his paintings.
With the concept of a “sound cave,” National Taichung Theater is designed with the elements of curved wall, hole, and pipe. There is no pillar in the entire building. Nor is there any wall at 90 degree angles, subverting the idea of regular architectures. This theater is a symbiotic entity of people and nature. The curves cultivate people’s expectations quietly. The glass canopy reflects the blue sky, surrounded by grass land and ponds. It is a paradise in the city. The façade with the form of “kochukyo” (pot house) has curves like a wine pot, suggesting people will get drunk after enjoying the exciting performances. Exclaiming the infinite possibilities of art, there are many windows on the pot-shape wall. Lights are emitted elegantly and warmly at night. It is the cradle of performing arts as well as the place where people can take a rest and learn new knowledge. Moreover, the National Taichung Theater is the newly emerged landmark in Taichung.
Miyahara Ophthalmology was an eye clinic established in 1927 by a Japanese Dr. Miyahara Takeo. It was the largest eye clinic during the Japanese rule. With the shift in times, it was old and ignored, becoming a dangerous premise. It took a year and the efforts of architects and historic monuments restoration experts with Ph.D. degrees to revive this special architecture - Miyahara Ophthalmology. The red bricks outer walls and old pavilions were all retained. Departing from the myth of “restoring the old look,” it was refurbished with the interlacing idea of “preserving the existing conditions,” “juxtaposition of the old and new,” “fusing of the old and new.” As a continuation of the past, it is reanimated with a new life force. In the shop, nostalgic cakes with retro packing are sold, being the most popular souvenirs. There are also tasty snacks with neat packing. Both are idea gifts as well treats for yourself. In Miyahara, you won’t want to miss its club ice-cream. Coming in different flavors, they are made with special recipe. The most exciting thing should be the ingredients served with the ice cream – a whole piece of local pineapple pastry, cheesecake, almond ice ball and more. The most delicious and rich ice cream is served here. Visiting Taichung, you are highly recommended to taste the gourmet delicacies at Miyahara.
Taichung Prefectural Hall Park is a historic monument preserved intact. It was a government building during the Japanese rule. Later, it because the government building of Taichung Prefecture during the Japanese rule, and Taichung City of Taiwan (ROC) later. Now, it is listed as historic monument of Taichung City. During the Japanese rule, the building was called as Taichung Prefecture Hall. Now, this name is retained and used. Taichung Prefecture Hall was the governor’s office during the Japanese rule. Before Taichung City Government moved to the new premise now, it was its office building. Close to Taichung Rail Station, it is convenient in transportation. With a business zone nearby, there are food and beverage districts and traditional old streets in the neighborhood. With rich historic and cultural resources, the Prefecture Hall and the buildings nearby are listed as historic monuments. This zone is the place with densely populated historic monuments. Taichung Prefecture Hall was an imitation of French Mansard. In front of it, there is a Mansard Roof. The main building is an L shape with two levels. Facing the east, there is a tower protruding in the middle. On both sides of the façade, there are watchtowers to connect with the buildings from two wings. At the entrance at the first floor, there are Doric orders. Meanwhile, there Ionic pillars on the second floor. The retracted balcony enhanced the shade effects of the façade. The architecture of Taichung Prefecture Hall highlights its political status and its importance in the city in the past. With the Taichung City Downtown Plan, the main entrance is located at the corner of the arcade, being the features of a Japanese government building during the Japanese rule.
A tribute to the founder of pearl milk tea. Being the internationally renowned drink and the cure of overseas Taiwanese homesickness, “pearl milk tea” is developed in this famous hand-shake drink shop located on Siwei Street, Taichung. It was also the place called “bubble tea street.” Now, it is still a representative landmark during the good old days in the mind the older people. Reminiscing the initial intention, the simple idea of mixing and brewing tea to allow people to enjoy tea remains the same. The motif of preparing drinks has not changed since then. Pearl milk tea in not only a cup of drink but also a part of the culture and spirit, memory and pride of everyday life of the common Taiwanese people. Taichung Spicy Hot Pot meal – In the 1990’s the founding shop of spicy hot pot opened at Zhongxiao Night Market, packed with people and good food stalls. At that time, a stall that sold spicy hot pot exclusively was an innovative act. Surrounded by good and tasty food stalls in Zhongxiao Night Market, it won food lovers’ favor because of its unique taste. When you visit Taichung, you are highly recommended to taste the spicy hot pot and experience the culture here. It will be a unique experience of the local delicacy.
